Design the smallest useful layout first

Mobile-first design forces the interface to prioritize content, actions and hierarchy before extra space is introduced. That usually results in cleaner decisions at every breakpoint.

Start with the essential flow, then add columns and decorative elements when the viewport can support them comfortably.

Make interaction comfortable

Buttons, links and form controls should have enough space to use without precision tapping. Navigation also needs a predictable pattern that does not depend on hover.

Test real content lengths instead of relying only on idealized component examples.

Let typography carry the hierarchy

Responsive interfaces feel premium when type scales deliberately and line lengths remain readable. Avoid simply shrinking desktop typography until it fits.

Use a consistent type scale and spacing rhythm so every section feels related across screen sizes.
